Desperately Seeking Susan (1985): Susan

Following the success of "Lucky Star," gaggles of young girls and gays flocked to the theaters to see Madge get into her thespian groove. One of those typical screwball '80s comedies with mistaken identities, amnesia, desperate housewives, and a mobster looking for a pair of stolen Egyptian earrings, Madonna nonetheless earned positive reviews -- thus setting the bar for her movie career prematurely high.

Who's That Girl (1987): Nikki Finn

Madonna's on the run from a pimp and his lackey, out to prove her innocence for a crime she didn't commit. Along the way she falls in love with a tax attorney named Louden and hangs out with a cougar named Murray. It's sort of like Bringing Up Baby if Katharine Hepburn made a lot of bad life choices.

Dick Tracy (1990): Breathless Mahoney

"Sooner or Later" she always gets her man. Madonna takes on Stephen Sondheim, "Breathless"-ly devouring every scene as an always in "Vogue" nightclub singer with a taste for danger and the occasional "Hanky Panky."

Madonna: Truth or Dare (1991): Herself

Filmed during her 1990 Blond Ambition Tour, the world was finally given a glimpse into the life of Madonna Louise Ciccone -- both on and off stage. Though perhaps this doc's most enduring legacy is the lesson on deep-throating like a pro from the ambitious bottled blond herself.

A League Of Their Own (1992): Mae Mordabito

With brass, balls and bases loaded, the Queen of Pop gal-pals around with Rosie O'Donnell on what used to be their playground in Penny Marshall's poignant film about the all-women's professional baseball league during WWII.

Body of Evidence (1993): Rebecca Carlson

Ride the pain into the pleasure. On the lucite heels of her now-legendary softcore coffee table book, Sex, Madge bares all -- dripping candle wax and champagne all over Willem Defoe's naked body -- in this unintentionally campy erotic thriller.

Four Rooms (1995): Elspeth

Madonna's a real witch in this star-studded anthology film that had four directors, yet no direction. In her segment, Ms. Ciccone and her coven are getting into some toil and trouble as they try to reverse a spell on their goddess -- if only one of the witches can get her life together and find the missing ingredient: semen. Naturally.

Evita (1996): Eva Peron

Patti LuPone's are some giant shoes to fill, but Madge worked her ass and vocal chords off in hopes of rising to the challenge as Argentina's beloved leading lady. Reviews were mixed, but don't cry for Madonna -- she still netted her first and only acting Golden Globe.

Where do we go from here? Let's just stop while we're ahead and forget The Next Best Thing ever happened. Much like Madonna has.
