Ready for your latest synth-heavy breakup song, boys? Toronto singer-songwriter Gentleman Reg was been a former member of The Hidden Cameras, and has toured with Owen Pallett, Diamond Rings, A Camp, and performs in electro-rock duo Light Fires. His latest LP, Leisure Life, features "Waiting Around For Gold."
The video, directed by Jeff Scheven (TV On The Radio, Death From Above), features a monk-like Reg Vermue (a.k.a. Gentleman Reg) in ghostly makeup singing the refrain: "When they ask me what I'm doing/ I say I'm waiting around for gold." A golden boy? The perfect boyfriend? Seems as such, what with the naked male torso in gold body paint also spliced in. It's a danceable track with plenty of hooks for repeat listening. And even if you're not heartsick, or waiting around for gold, you'll enjoy the catchy tune.
