'Smash' Hits Important Broadway Topic: Sex

Whatever you think about NBC's new Broadway show within a TV show behemoth Smash, at least it's fostering conversation. Some people love the musical numbers, others bemoan its glossy take on a life devoted to the stage--but everywhere we go, people seem to be talking about it. After the coming episode on Monday, March 4, it looks like there will be a whole new aspect of the show to discuss: gay sex.
Christian Borle's character, Tom, is not the same sexless queen who tagged along with Debra Messing on her last notable TV outing, Will and Grace. In fact, Tom recently met a guy (Neal Bledsoe)--a cute, successful guy, but don't they all seem that way at first--and in Monday's episode, it looks like they do what plenty of men do every day, go to bed together.
In an age when dudes are smooching on soap operas, we're not saying that it's groundbreaking to see two shirtless guys across a mattress from one another, but it is something that happens in real life, which you can't say about everything you see on TV.
