If you didn't think this gay guy baby thing was a pop culture trend yet--and need more gay daddy images after watching The New Normal--you're in luck: the Brits are now getting in on the action with the first British webseries, The Vessel.
The 10-part webseries (which has an official premiere October 21) follows Kim (Lily Brown) and her two best friends, Rory (Giovanni Bienne) and Mike (Phillip Whiteman), as they start a family. Rory and Mike are a gay couple who have decided they want to have a baby. With one vital component missing, they ask their close friend Kim to be "the tummy mummy." And we have the exclusive first look here for you to check out before episode 1 of the webseries premieres October 21 at 8 p.m.
As the creators explain: "We follow the trio from the moment they proposition Kim to the day she gives birth, witnessing the glories, strains and turmoil of bringing a child into the world. Filmed from Kim's point of view so we never see her face or reactions, the audience is placed firmly in her shoes allowing viewers to experience Kim's journey in a neutral and unaffected way. To maintain this natural, uninhibited feel the dialogue of all episodes will be plotted but largely improvised allowing for genuine reactions and spontaneity."
You might notice some familiar faces with a cast that includes actors from Doctor Who, Game of Thrones and The Queen. Plus the pilot won first prize at The Raindance Film Festival last year (UK's version of Sundance).
