Navy Pilots Risk It All for Love in Burning Blue
When it comes to Burning Blue, it's like Brokeback Mountain with fighter jets and men in uniform.
A pair of accidents aboard a naval aircraft carrier prompts a government investigation, but the agent in charge quickly shifts focus when someone reports seeing one of the ship's top-ranking pilots in a gay club.
Daniel Lynch (Trent Ford) and Matthew Blackwood (Rob Mayes) are quickly submerged in a fight to keep their families together and to keep their love a secret. While Lynch seems to be reluctant to pursue the romance, it's Blackwood who insists that he wants Lynch no matter the consequences.
The film, directed by DMW Greer, is based on a London play of the same name, which he wrote in 1992. Based on his own experiences as a Naval Aviator, Greer's Burning Blue explores the complexity of homosexual relationships in the military and how certain secrets can be detrimental to every facet of your life if exposed.
