Bravo announced yesterday that the Orange is the New Black star will be playing "Adele Northrop, a Pulitzer Prize-winning war journalist and LGBT activist who presents an award at a marriage equality gala" on its upcoming scripted series, Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce.
The series -- premiering this fall -- will be Bravo's first original scripted program and is inspired by the books by Vicki Iovine. The show will star Lisa Edelstein (House) as Abby, a self-help author who astonishes everyone when she reveals that her picturesque life is all a lie.
The news comes as Laverne Cox celebrates a breakout year. In addition to her starring role on OITNB, the actress graced the cover of TIME, received a GLAAD Media Award for her activism, and served as grand marshal of the New York pride parade.
