Sam Smith Nominated for 6 Grammys, Including Album of the Year

He’s up against Beyoncé.

The Grammy nominations were a long, extended process that began Friday morning and continued to roll out via Twitter. After it's all been talllied, OUT100 honoree Sam Smith received six nominations, including Album of the Year for In the Lonely Hour. The 22-year-old British singer leads nominations along with Beyonce, whose six nominations also include Album of the Year for her surprise release that rocked the music industry.

While this comes as no shock to anyone, it's still gratifying to see an openly gay artist up for the biggest award in music. He's also up for Best New Artist, Record, and Song of the Year for "Stay With Me (Darkchild Version)", in addition to Best Best Pop Solo Performance and Pop Vocal Album.
