"God Bless This Mess," read a placard that hung on the front door of my home when I was growing up. My mother had a twisted sense of humor (or was putting on airs of faux-embarrassment of her perfectly manicured domicile), since the house was always immaculate and we were one of those families that cleaned up for the cleaning lady. Regardless, that maxim could also apply to comedy legend Joan Rivers and her Upper East Side closet filled with expectedly outragous and ridiculous apparel (hidden behind a false wall--cool!). She takes viewers through her drawers of jewels, her racks of gold-embellished caftans, and various other feathery, glittering tidbits--spitting out pithy one-liners all the while. For someone who makes her living mocking ther peoples' ensembles, she has a charmingly glib, optimistic view on the whole fashion parade. Check it her lavish closet, her ageless face, and her endless witticisms below.
