While a company spotlighting a same-sex couple as part of an advertisement may not seem like that big of a deal, it is. A company that promotes gay equality or focuses on the LGBT community can come under fire, as evidenced by criticism J.C. Penney received when they chose Ellen DeGeneres as their spokesperson. At the risk of alienating a customer base, what a brand promotes in their ads says a lot about them (think Kenneth Cole or Absolut Vodka). The latest brand to let their rainbow flag fly is eternally cool sunglasses line Ray Ban, who are using a vintage-y shot of two men holding hands in their "Never Hide" campaign. Obviously, we already have a pair of the iconic shades, but if we didn't, we'd definitely run out and buy a pair.
