Apparently Carly Rae Jepsen can do wrong. For a Target commercial that will air during this weekend's Grammy Awards, the "Run Away With Me" singer teamed up with rapper Lil Yachty and producer Mike WiLL Made-It to make a cover of the hip-hop classic, "It Takes Two." The song, originally released in 1988 by Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock, will soundtrack the sponsored video, directed by Roman Coppola and choreographed by La La Land's Mandy Moore.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly about the dreadfully cheesy cover, Jepsen described her cameo as a "rhythmic girlie moment," adding that "Yachty is a lot of fun, and Mike is incredibly talented, so the combo was unlike anything I'd done before."

Thankfully, Jepsen told EW she's working on a follow-up to Emotion, conducting the interview from pop music's unspoken capital Stockholm, Sweden. "I'm definitely finding some new sounds for me, which is always the goal: to challenge what you did last time, to break some rules and to discover new places where you want to go musically," she said, citing Donna Summer as an inspiration for the new LP.
