Donald Trump has targeted many people with insults during his run to become president, but now he's set his sights on American military personnel.
In Virginia Tuesday, Trump responded to a question about removing the "social engineering policies" that have affected the military this year--such as allowing transgender soldiers to serve openly or letting women serve in frontline combat roles.
"You're right, we have a politically correct military and it's getting more and more politically correct every day," he said, "and lot of the great people in this room don't even understand how it's possible to do that."
Trump called the recent policies "ridiculous" and vowed, as president, to listen to top-ranking enlisted personnel before deciding on new policies.
On June 30, Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced that the U.S. military would be ending its ban on transgender military service. An estimated 15,500 transgender soldiers currently serve in the U.S. military.
