With his blond hair and baby blues, Tab Hunter was the quintessential Hollywood golden boy decades before Redford and Pitt. Born Arthur Kelm in 1931, he canoodled glamorous co-stars like Rita Hayworth and Sophia Loren on screen, hiding the fact he was gay beneath his film idol facade. Decades after arranged dates with his beard Natalie Wood and a clandestine affair with Anthony Perkins, Hunter had a second act in cult films like John Waters's Polyester, and in 2005, he came out in his memoir, Tab Hunter Confidential, now a tell-all documentary produced by Allan Glasser, his partner of more than 30 years. "One of the reasons I let my life story be told," Hunter says, "was the hope that if one person gets something out of it, it was all worthwhile." In the doc itself, Hunter says he's now "happy to be forgotten." But that's not happening anytime soon.
