Reports of the death of independent publishing are greatly exaggerated, and Scholder has played a big role in keeping it vital. Most recently, she was editor in chief at Seven Stories Press (where she published Savannah Knoop's Girl Boy Girl: How I Became JT LeRoy) before landing as editorial director of the Feminist Press imprint at City University of New York this fall.
