PROMOTER & DIRECTOR

TOM WHITMAN
& LOU PETERSON

Events promoter Tom Whitman (seated) took his experience as a TV and film producer-director for MTV Networks and parlayed it into some of the best queer bashes in Los Angeles.

Over 500,000 pairs of feet have danced through the doors of his parties, including Los Angeles's Wonderland, the largest gay pride event on the West Coast; the weekly Sunday party Size at West Hollywood's Here Lounge; Elevation, the gay ski week party in California's Sierra Nevadas; the all-male burlesque show Lucky Devil at L.A.'s infamous Forty Deuce; and numerous benefits for AIDS Project Los Angeles (he's on its board), the Trevor Project, GLAAD, HRC, and Outfest, among others.

Young, up-and-coming filmmaker Lou Peterson is taking queer film to the multiplex; his feature debut, In the Blood, made for his thesis project at Columbia University's film school, was a critical and commercial success, debuting on Logo during 2007's Halloween season, when it became the channel's highest-rated movie ever. Next? In the Blood 2, natch; and the thriller Squealers, with legendary queer producer Philip Pierce (Boy Culture).
