ARTIST

TERENCE KOH

Terence Koh is not just the kind of artist who makes $500,000 by gold-plating his own feces and selling them to rich, obsessed collectors. Granted, that's part of it, but in putting together his often mystifying pieces, he creates a discrete and visually arresting universe. Koh's sexuality also features prominently in his work, from the in-your-face pornographic impulses of his days as the persona "asianpunkboy" to the sexually charged work at Asia Song Society, a downtown New York gallery collective where he works with dealer (and sponsor) Javier Peres. Koh's meteoric rise in contemporary art has already landed him exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art and Switzerland's Art Basel as well as in London and Zurich.
