It's something most of can't even fathom -- let alone acknowledge. After living through the HIV/AIDS crisis and now witnessing marriage equality become legal nationwide, some gay and transgender older Americans are forced back into the closet rather than face discrimination in nursing homes. The new documentary, titled Gen Silent, offers a powerful portrait of LGBT elders and the struggles they face later in life.
In advance of the Nov. 9 debut on Logo, we have a clip in which Lawrence Johnson, an African-American gay man in his mid-60s who struggles to find a nursing home that will accept his 86-year-old partner with Parkinson's, talks about living with his partner and hiding their sexuality.
