Catey Shaw does a lot of things right. Her songwriting is poppy but incisive, her voice is downright mellifluous, and, as her video for "Tell Everyone" shows, she can work a crowd and rock a white pantsuit.
The queer songstress behind "Brooklyn Girls" and "Human Contact" brings down the house in her "Tell Everyone" video, filmed at Brooklyn's Knitting Factory.
"'Tell Everyone' is about the fear of an ex-lover making you out to be evil to all of your mutual friends and pushing you out," says Shaw. "Everything in a relationship, all the way to the breakup, takes two."
"This is a song that has actually been around for a few years. I had always played it live but for one reason or another, the recording never quite nailed it for me. We got my band into the studio and completely overhauled the song. Now it all works together; equal parts angry and groovy."
The video's a fun, upbeat short that does justice to the track and Shaw's stellar showmanship. Furthermore, it's a preview of what's to come as Shaw embarks on her first ever tour--featuring stops in NYC, Boston, Philly, Chicago and more.
