America Wants Tina Fey to Host The Daily Show
The people have spoken and what the people want is what I have been saying for years: we need more Tina Fey on TV.
According to the results of a poll conducted by Quinnipiac University, the former SNL "Weekend Update" anchor is the country's top choice for Jon Stewart's successor at The Daily Show.
Of the 1,286 registered U.S. voters surveyed, 19% want the 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt to replace Stewart, who announced that he was leaving the show last month.
Following Fey, Dennis Miller, John Oliver, Craig Ferguson, and Brian Williams (they tied with 7% each), and finally Chelsea Handler made the runners-up list in that order.
The A.V. Club notes that though the results were split along gender lines-- women chose Fey 23-12 percent, men actually chose Miller 21-15 percent--when examined by age, men and women ages 18 to 34 chose Fey 27%.
Now this is all pretty much moot, as it's unlikely that Fey will leave her life developing, writing, and even starring in smash-hit movies and TV shows (probably the same motivation that made Jon Stewart decide to depart his hit show), but hey a country can dream, right?
