Since learning the film was filming last year, we've been waiting to find out the next step for the feature film focused on the Stonewall protests, and now it's starting to take shape. According to a press release, Roadside Attractions "plans a fall release for the independently produced film." Starring Jeremy Irvine, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Ron Perlman, and Jonny Beauchamp, Stonewall is directed by Roland Emmerich and written by John Robin Baitz.
"I was always interested and passionate about telling this important story, but I feel it has never been more timely than right now," Emmerich said in the release. "I am excited to work with Howard, Eric, and the team at Roadside to get this film to audiences across the country. They have a unique approach to handling movies like [this]."
Howard Cohen, Roadside Attractions co-president, stated: "Roland Emmerich's Stonewall is an explosive, dramatic story set against one of the monumental events of the 20th century, the Stonewall Riots. Roadside is so proud to bring this stirring film to audiences."
