After over 20 years, countless rumors and god-knows-how-many accidental overdoses, Absolutely Fabulous is making its way to the big screen.
The wildly popular British series followed the uppers and downers of boozy besties, Patsy (Joanna Lumley) and Edina (Jennifer Saunders). Though it's had a number of revivals over the years since first debuting in 1992, Saunders had resisted doing a movie.
"I didn't do it for a while because I thought, 'wouldn't it be awful if it was awful,' but now we're all so old," Saunders said on Brit talk show Loose Women. "Joanna says 'do it before we all die.'"
That Patsy, always the voice of reason.
Saunders went on to give a few more details on the film:
There is a plot [for the movie] and that's the miracle. It involves all the main characters and virtually everyone that's ever been in the series, all those characters and we're in London and sometimes we might go to the South of France, I'm hoping. I'm waiting for the budget. It could be anywhere -- if it's a big budget it will be the Bahamas. I've got another deadline on May 8th... and then we'll probably do it in the autumn.
Sounds like it's about time to hunker down in your vintage Lacroix to bingewatch 23 years of cocaine jokes -- you know, in preparation.
