Fun Home was the big musical winner at the awards.

Last night, Fun Home was the big winner at the 2015 Tony Awards, taking the Best New Musical award. In all it won five Tonys, including wins for Michael Cerveris (Best Leading Actor in a Musical) and Sam Gold for director. Cerveris was the only one to mention the impending Supreme Court case regarding marriage equality in his acceptance speech.
It was Jeanine Tesori and Lisa Kron's win for Best Original Score for Fun Home, the first all-female songwriting team to win the award, that was cause for celebration. When Kron won the Tony for Best Book of a Musical, she gave a rousing speech (that was not televised). Watch it below:
