Since representing Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012, pop singer Tooji (Touraj Keshtkar) has become a familiar face in his home country, but his influence hasn't quite managed to spread past Europe's borders. That might change with "Father," a gasp-enducingly, heart-pounding coming out anthem that has managed to pique the interest of the Church of Norway, which has condemned the song's video as a desecration.
Filmed in Frogner Church, in Oslo, the video depicts Tooji's illicit relationship with a sexy priest. In addition to flashbacks alluding to a secret affair, the pair shares some very NSFW moments on the church's altar, in front of the congregation.
After learning about the video, the Bishop of Oslo condemned the song. According to the Huffington Post, he said in a statement:
"No matter what the video's message might be or who the artist might be, footage of intimate scenes in front of the altar is unacceptable, and it is an abuse of the church."
He added:
"A scene shot between a man and a woman would also be unacceptable."
