Fashion shopping site Lyst gives Ken a much-needed new look.
Last week Mattel released the 2016 Fashionistas Line, featuring Barbie in three different sizes- tall, curvy, and petite - as well as a variety of skin tones and hairstyles. The change was made in an effort to bring Barbie within the realm of realistic body standards, going beyond the thin frame Barbie we all know too well. But of course, the new line of dolls evoked one particular and burning question: What about Ken?
Well, it looks like the gent may be getting the makeover he's desperately needed for decades. When Twitter users demanded to see a more realistic depiction of male body standards applied to Ken, the fashion shopping site Lyst decided to create its own line of 'Fashionisto' Ken dolls.
The line-up includes Beach Dad Bod Ken, Bearded Hipster Ken, Balding Ken, Petite Ken, Black Ken, and Asian Ken. To keep Ken up to par with Barbie, Lyst took a look at the most popular fashion products purchased by men last year. 'Fashionisto' Ken dolls aren't going to be mass-produced any time soon, but perhaps this could be the first step Mattel needs in order to give Ken his official makeover.
