J.J. Abrams Says He Would Love Gay Star Wars Characters
It's a bit of bad news for all of the Star Wars "fans" that had a problem with the believability of a female Jedi lead and black stormtrooper: gays are coming to A Galaxy Far, Far Away.
J.J. Abrams, who produced and directed The Force Awakens, recently told The Daily Beast, "When I talk about inclusivity it's not excluding gay characters. It's about inclusivity. So of course."

True fans who enjoy the escapism that Star Wars offers with its expansive universe and near-limitless opportunity for diversity shouldn't have any trouble imaging gay characters amongst starships, aliens, and the Force. "I would love it," Abrams said, "to me, the fun of Star Wars is the glory of possibility. So it seems insanely narrow-minded and counterintuitive to say that there wouldn't be a homosexual character in that world."
Though nothing is set in stone yet, Abrams' comments about the potential for gay characters in Star Wars will have the Finn and Poe shippers beyond giddy. The unlikely couple quickly became the most viral thing on the internet related to The Force Awakens, and with good reason. Oscar Isaac with anyone is already a dream come true, but with John Boyega it's just heaven.
