John Waters Endorses DeRay Mckesson for Baltimore Mayor
If you don't know who John Waters is, educate yourself! He's the creative genius behind the campy cult classic, Hairspray. Long before John Travolta threw on a wig, Waters put the legendary Divine in the role of Edna Turnblad in this legendary musical about racial injustice in '60s Baltimore.
Now it appears that Waters wants to cast DeRay Mckesson as mayor of the city. Earlier this year, the Black Lives Matter activist and Out100honoree announced his wish to run for mayor of Baltimore. Waters' endorsement came via a video on Mckesson's Twitter:

"When trouble happens, liberals can sometimes turn to reactionaries quickly, and I guess I'm included," Waters said. "I'm not sure what I can do to help Baltimore with its problems these days. So why not let somebody younger and more radical than I am have a crack at it?"
