Groundbreaking.

Elton John is taking a note from Cyndi Lauper's Kinky Boots success and bringing another contemporary film classic to Broadway. John announced today he's teaming up with Paul Rudnick to write the musical adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada.

"Re-imagining The Devil Wears Prada for the musical theatre is super exciting," Producer Kevin McCollum said about the adaptation. "I'm a huge fan of both the book and the feature film and a huge aficionado of the fashion world. I can't wait to sink my musical teeth into this hunk of popular culture."

No word if we can expect Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway or Emily Blunt to lend their vocal chops to the production, but here's to hoping. Meanwhile, the production timeline is TBA. By all means, move at a glacial pace. You know how that thrills me.
