Ellen DeGeneres to Make Stand-Up Comeback with Netflix Special
After 15 years away from the stand-up comedy stage, it looks like Ellen is going to return to the microphone. The rumors began swirling when Netflix tweeted this earlier today:
“Looks like it's been 15 years since you did a stand-up special, @TheEllenShow. How about one for Netflix?”— Netflix (@Netflix) 1495641783
But then Ellen responded with this, confirming the buzz:
“Let me think about it. Ok I'm in. https://t.co/kUAdHyXAjS”— Ellen DeGeneres (@Ellen DeGeneres) 1495642574
The last time DeGeneres did a stand-up special was in 2003 for HBO, with her Emmy-nominated Ellen DeGeneres: Here and Now. Before that, she did another HBO special: Ellen DeGeneres: The Beginning. For the past decade and a half, Ellen has been focusing on her daytime talk show and production company, A Very Good Production, which is backing the upcoming Netflix-animated Green Eggs and Ham, and programs on ABC and NBC.
