Showtime’s gothic-horror series Penny Dreadful (as omnisexual Dorian Gray)
You Know Him From: Broadway's Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark (as Peter Parker); Showtime's gothic-horror series Penny Dreadful (as omnisexual Dorian Gray); Taylor Swift's music video for "I Knew You Were Trouble" (as the "trouble")
What's Next: Reprising his role as Dorian Gray on Penny Dreadful season 2 (premiering April 26); continuing work on his latest record, the follow-up to Mr. Green Vol. 1, the 2010 album released by his band, Carney
The Naked Truth: "One of my favorite costumes on the show -- or one of my character's favorites, I should say -- is various states of undress. That can be terrifying, and I'd never done anything like it, but the worst thing you can do in that kind of situation is go halfway.
I try to go as far as I possibly can."
Friend of Dorothy: "I've always been a huge Judy Garland fan. I'm attracted to her sadness -- the sense of struggle that you hear in her voice when she sings. I listen to 'Over the Rainbow,' and get the same sort of feeling I get when I watch Cabaret, with people creating this imaginary world because there's no other choice. It's tragically beautiful."
Season 2 of Penny Dreadful premieres May 3 on Showtime. Watch a trailer below:
