As if playing Marilyn Monroe--well, an actress hoping to land the part of Marilyn Monroe--on NBC's new musical series Smash wasn't enough, rising star Megan Hilty is set to play the blonde bombshell live in the coming Encores! production of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes at New York City Center according to The New York Times.
Although she's gearing up to become a television star, Hilty is no stranger to the stage, having performed in Wicked and 9 to 5: The Musical.
Press representatives for the show have confirmed the recent casting which features a book by Anita Loos and Joseph Fields, music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Leo Robin. The play will run at City Center from May 9 through 13, and will be directed by John Rando.
