F*ck the Golden Years, as a title, originated from New York City photographer Kevin Amato's grandmother. "She was definitely a free spirit," he says. "She was definitely an honest woman and definitely a loving, caring woman. But at the same time, she had the mouth of a truck driver.
Amato, who's work has appeared in Dazed & Confused, Interview, and Flaunt, has a new show opening at Manhattan's Casa de Costa tonight, consisting of 40 images from his commercial and artistic career. Decidedly focused on New York youth, the photos in our slideshow are playful, yet aggressive, and occasionally and unexpectedly sensual.
Speaking about his grandmother, Amato says, "'Fuck the golden years' was just saying, 'Live your life now.'"
