Andrew Sullivan is an openly gay British author, editor and blogger. He is a conservative politcal commentator and a former editor of The New Republic. A pioneer of the political blog, he started his blog in 2000 and moved it onto notable publications such as TIME, The Atlantic, The Daily Beast, and finally an independent subscription-based format. He announced his retirement from blogging in 2015. He is the author of 6 books and a practicing Roman Catholic. In 2003 he indentified himself as a member of the gay bear community and in 2007 he married Aaron Tone. The couple live together in Washington D.C.
