Thinking Within the Box: Sensual Photo Series Explores Confined Intimacy

96 pages of 10-inch square paper complete Ron Amato's new photographic series and upcoming book, The Box. Amato sensually unpacks themes of isolation, desire, conflict, and empowerment through images of men in intimate poses.

"Interpretation of images is personal," says Amato, who shot over 30 men for the project. "What one might see as conflict, another might view as connection. There is a fine line between isolation and longing. Community often grows out of desire. Processes are fluid and oftentimes nonlinear. Yet, no matter how expressed, the struggles of betterment are deeply felt by us all regardless of the distinctions of our own stories."

Amato is currently raising funds for The Box to help with production costs. He is nearing $13,000 with a goal of $16,350.
