Today, Mode.com released a fascinating video examining the Spanish painter, Alfonos Aguirre. Unlike traditional watercolorists, Aguirre uses red wine to create dynamic, explorative, and massive paintings.
"The painting doesn't start at the beginning of the painting of itself," says Aguirre, "but at the making of the colors."
Aguirre first began painting drag queens in San Francisco, subjects who deftly balanced masculine and feminine personas. Now he focuses on capturing bull fighters who exhibit a traditional machismo, but perform in flamboyant--and arguably traditionally feminine--costume.
