Must-Read: Boy Club, New Gay Zine All About Boys
The debut issue of Boy Club boasts colorful pages, vibrant photography, and stories we actually want to read. Launched by Kyle Raymond Fitzpatrick and his boyfriend, Bobby Solomon, the zine's M.O. is simple but provocative: "Boy Club explores the space between gay and post-gay contemporary culture," Fitzpatrick writes on the opening page. "It's a celebration of everything boy."
"We wanted this to be an inclusive environment for anyone who wanted to talk about boys," Fitzpatrick told us. "This is the place for it."
Issue One offers a breadth of diverse stories, from a profile of Lucky Logan, a maid who will clean your home in a jockstrap (or naked for an extra fee), to Chef Laurent Quenioux, a gay culinary king who has achieved great success in the kitchen. Boy Club also features cocktail recipes with pithy names like "Non-Suburban Bourbon" and "Smashing Strawberries," as well as a recipe for "Gay Ass Quiche."
"We didn't wait to do a Kickstarter or get more people on board, we just did it ourselves," Fitzpatrick says proudly. "We were excited about the idea, so we went for it."
