DC Comics is, once again, celebrating the LGBTQ+ community by releasing several upcoming Pride-themed editions of your favorite DC titles, including the annual DC Pride Anthology.
DC Pride 2024 #1 is a 104-page prestige comic coming out May 28 that features stories starring all of our favorite queer DC heroes. The anthology features stories by Phil Jimenez, Nicole Maines and Jordan Gibson, Gretchen Felker-Martin and Claire Roe, Jarrett Williams and D.J. Kirkland, Jamila Rowser and ONeillJones, Ngozi Ukazu, Calvin Kasulke and Len Gogou, and Al Ewing.
DC Comics
The anthology will feature an autobiographical story by Phil Jimenez, as well as the story of Dreamer’s first time traveling to her ancestral planet; Poison Ivy going spore-hunting; Jon Kent, Jay, Bunker and The Ray having a boy’s night in A-Town; Natasha Irons facing her ex, Traci 13, at the Oblivion Bar’s Pride party; Jackson Hyde going to the Fourth World in time for their annual Love Festival; Circuit Breaker traveling to the Phantom Zone; a Blue Starman story, and pinups of some of the characters.
DC Comics
The anthology will also feature a preview of the YA graphic novel The Strange Case of Harleen and Harley, by Melissa Marr and Jenn St-Onge, which comes out September 3.
DC Comics
“When Harleen signs up to participate in a clinical research trial with her girlfriend, Pamela, her only goals are extra cash and a chance to control her anxiety,” the book’s description reads. “But what she gets instead are increasingly larger gaps in her memory and stolen mementos from some guy named Jack. Soon Harleen discovers she’s sharing her life with Harley—a take-no-prisoners, who-cares-about-attendance, maybe-we-oughta-save-the-bunnies kind of girl. She is the opposite of Harleen in every way. And although she’s throwing Harleen’s life completely off track, maybe she ain’t so bad either…”
DC Comics
This Pride season, DC is also releasing DC Pride: A Celebration of Rachel Pollack, a trans writer for DC who made some of the most groundbreaking comics of the 1990s. This 96-page book reprints the debut of Pollack’s character Coagula, DC’s first transgender superhero in Doom Patrol #70. It also features a new short story about Coagula, written by Joe Corallo. DC Pride: A Celebration of Rachel Pollack will be released June 6.
DC Comics
On April 2, DC is publishing Bad Dream: A Dreamer Story, written by Nicole Maines (who played the transgender superhero in the Supergirl TV show) and drawn by Rye Hickman.
“Nia’s spent her whole life taking a back seat to her older sister, Maeve, who was expected to inherit their mother’s Seer powers: the ability to see the future through dreams, passed down to one woman in each generation. But when Nia, a trans girl, starts having visions of the future, she must suppress her powers to protect her relationship with her sister,” the description reads.
“Soon Nia’s dreams become impossible to ignore, and she has no choice but to distance herself as she navigates her new reality,” it continues. “Taking off for Metropolis, Nia is quickly swept up in the bustling city and, guided by her dreams, connects with a group of queer girls who feel more like sisters than her own. As Nia starts to discover her powers may be more than just a burden, she’s given a choice: accept her new responsibility as a Seer or give it all up for a chance at normalcy.”
DC Comics
Throughout Pride season, DC will also be highlighting its queer heroes with Pride variant covers for titles like Action Comics, Batman, Green Arrow, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Nightwing, Outsiders, Suicide Squad: Dream Team, Superman, The Flash, and Wonder Woman.
