Out reporter and Wicked meme queen Tracy E. Gilchrist is lending her voice to help raise money for charity in a new campaign with MAC Cosmetics!

In case you missed it, Gilchrist when insanely viral after asking Wicked stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande how they felt about queer people "really taking the lyrics of 'Defying Gravity' and really holding space with that and feeling power in that."

"I didn't know that was happening," says a shocked Erivo, who was honored as the Icon of the Year on the 2024 Out100. Grande tenderly held onto Erivo's perfectly manicured finger as she went on, "That's really powerful. That's what I wanted." The on-camera moment has become a now-iconic meme and a part of culture.

And Gilchrist is using her newfound influence for good.

MAC Cosmetics commemorates World AIDS Day with a global sex education campaign promoting HIV testing and prevention. All purchases of the company's Viva Glam lipstick will directly support charities around the world working to reduce new infections and help people impacted by the epidemic. One hundred percent of the purchasing price will go straight to select charities advancing sexual, gender, racial, and environmental equality.

Gilchrist also filmed a fun promotional video for the announcement with some hilarious nods to the meme. Are you holding enough space for it?

"I am thrilled that people are embracing the sincerity and camp of the ‘holding space’ moment and having a ball with it," Gilchrist says. "I’ve been a Mac Cosmetics girl since I covered my first GLAAD Awards in 2001 in New York City on behalf of queer media. Viva Glam has always supported causes fighting to end HIV and AIDS, a cause dear to me since I came out in the late 1980s when so many beautiful gay men I knew were under attack from the epidemic and the Reagan government that let them die. Now Viva Glam has expanded its mission to support charities advancing sexual, gender, racial, and environmental equality. I’m honored to be a small part of that."

According to a press release, MAC U.S. has distributed over $710,000 to HIV/AIDS organizations including the Elton John AIDS Foundation, Broadway Cares, and God’s Love We Deliver.
