From Brisbane, Australia, Matthew Mitcham competed as a diver and won a gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the 10m platform category. Historically, Mitcham became the first-ever out gay athlete to win a gold medal at the Olympics.
Following his Olympic triumph, Mitcham appeared as a judge on the diving TV show Celebrity Splash! and competed on season 15 of the Australian version of Dancing With the Stars. He subsequently retired from diving in 2016 and kickstarted an official career in the entertainment industry.
