“I always thought I had to be gay because I thought all guys were evil but it’s not true.”
Miley Cyrus' queer fans are making the Scooby Doo "hmmmph" noise after the singer's latest bizarre Instagram Live session. Cyrus, who came out as pansexual and genderfluid in 2015, had some confusing sentiments to share about her sexuality now that she has a new male love interest.
After breaking it off (again) with husband Liam Hemsworth earlier this year, Cyrus has reportedly begun dating Australian musician Cody Simpson. On Sunday night, Cyrus treated her fans to a candid livestream that included some confusing advice for her queer followers.
"There are good men out there, guys,"she told her 100 million followers. "Don't give up. You don't have to be gay. There are good people with dicks out there. You've just got to find them."
So Cyrus is implying that women are gay because of bad people with dicks, as if it's a conscious decision they make because ugh, men! That's...not how sexuality works, Miley!
"I always thought I had to be gay because I thought all guys were evil but it's not true," Cyrus continued. "There are good people out there that just happen to have dicks."
Oh sweetie, no -- this ain't it. That might be your experience, but that doesn't make it universal.
This is especially disappointing considering the thoughtful comments Cyrus made about her sexuality earlier this year. In February, she told Vanity Fairthat a huge part of her "identity is being a queer person" and later clarified toElle that this was still true even though she'd married a man.
"I'm in a hetero relationship, but I still am very sexually attracted to women," Cyrus said at the time. "People become vegetarian for health reasons, but bacon is still fucking good, and I know that. I made a partner decision. This is the person I feel has my back the most."
