Can you believe?!
After rising to prominence on Netflix'sQueer Eye revamp, Jonathan Van Ness is enjoying his moment in the spotlight. Today, the hairstylist and author was unveiled as the latest cover star of Cosmopolitan U.K. And while that's all great in and of itself, Van Ness has also revealed that he is the first non-female person to front the glossy in 35 years. We love to see it!
The cover story itself hasn't been released -- but the image does come with a cryptic cover line. "Yep," the tag reads. "We did it. You're totally welcome." No clue what that means but go off! The magazine has teased more "JVN goodness coming your way from tomorrow."
Van Ness, who came out as nonbinary earlier this year, appears in a Christian Siriano ruffled gown and a pair of Nike's. A sensible queen; we stan!
According to Amy Grier, executive editor of Cosmopolitan U.K. and the writer of the feature, the pair talked about "Brexit, Bake Off, Binaries, and Bernie Sanders." That's likely the Great British Bake Off. Grier promised that the star "did not disappoint in any way." We expect nothing less.
The cover's debut comes on the heels of World AIDS Day. Van Ness revealed that he was living with HIV earlier this year, first in a New York Times profile, and then more extensively in his book Over the Top. Since, he's spoken quite eloquently and pointedly about not only about the Trump administration's continued attack on people living with HIV but also the importance of organizations like Planned Parenthood that provided the much needed testing that allowed Van Ness to begin treatment.
