Lady Gaga Just Staged Three Reveals on the Met Gala Red Carpet
Buckle up, ladies, the Met Gala has begun and Lady Gaga has kicked it off in style. Mother Monster was one of the first guests to arrive at Monday night's annual fashion event and set the tone for the evening as chair of this year's theme "Camp: Notes on Fashion." She arrived in a voluminous fuschia concoction by designer Brandon Maxwell complete with a train that trailed down the block behind her as she made her way into the Met. Also trailing behind her was a custom Haus of Gaga wagon holding what looked like bottles of bubbly.
But the gag(a) wasn't over when she arrived: Gaga posed for the press as dancers holding umbrellas moved around her, twirling the train of her gown around her like one of those big tents you play with in kindergarten. But wait, this wasn't just choreography -- it was a reveal! That's right, under her pink confection, Gaga had a whole other dress on: a black number reminiscent of her Audrey Hepburn-inspired Oscar gown, complete with structured hip and a parasol to boot.
But, omg. She still she wasn't done! Underneath her black ball gown was a slinky pink dress, accessorized with large black shades and an oversize vintage phone straight out of the 80s. She even reapplied her lipstick with help from makeup artist Sarah Tanno.
And then, like the gayest butterfly in pop music, Gaga unearthed one final look: a black bra, panties, fishnet stockings, and Pleaser heels straight from the strip club. That, girls, is how you do camp.
But is this the end of Gaga's looks for the night? Stay tuned...
