Orange Is The New Black star and advocate Laverne Cox is set to star in her first podcast, The Laverne Cox Show, which will debut in 2021.
The Laverne Cox Show will be produced by Shondaland and will premiere in February. The weekly podcast will feature intimate conversations between Cox and her guests.
The show is also produced by iHeartRadio and joins a Shondaland lineup of podcasts that includes scripted series #Matter and American Coup, You Down? With Obama's Other Daughters, Go Ask Ali with Ali Wentworth, Katie Lowe's' Katie's Crib, true crime series Criminalia, and a companion podcast for the upcoming show Bridgerton.
"I'm thrilled to be continuing and expanding my relationship with Shondaland by doing my first podcast with Shonda's amazing team along with iHeartRadio. I can't wait for everyone to hear the incredibly interesting conversations I have had with my guests," Cox said.
This is just one of Cox's projects with the company. She's also one of the stars of Inventing Anna, Shonda Rhimes' upcoming Netflix series about New York high life scammer Anna Delvey. Cox plays celebrity trainer and life coach Kacey Duke in the series starring Anna Chlumsky as a journalist and Julia Garner as Delvey.
"Laverne Cox is a one-of-a-kind talent and we are so excited that our Shondaland Audio division provides us the opportunity to continue our relationship with her," Shondaland Chief Design and Digital Media Officer Sandie Bailey said. "We all know her onscreen talents and her role as a producer, but this show affords Laverne the opportunity to produce something very personal. She's clearly interested in engaging her listeners and herself in ways she hasn't before. And we're committed to supporting her in doing just that."
