“Hi everyone … dramatic pause. Um, I’m gay.”

Sometimes you want to get something off your chest. Not a big, long, drawn out hullabaloo, you just want to pick up your phone, say what you need to say, and get out. And that's just what actor Rick Cosnett did on Thursday.

Cosnett, who plays Eddie Thawne on The Flash, Wes Maxfield in The Vampire Diaries and Elias Harper in Quantico, took to Instagram yesterday evening to open up about his sexuality. (Fun fact: Cosnett is a cousin of Hugh Grant) It wasn't a long video at all, and quite straight to the point at that.

"Hi everyone," he says in a short clip. "Dramatic pause. Um, I'm gay and I just wanted everyone to know because I've made a promise to myself to live my truth every day and sometimes that is a really hard thing to do when you have all these subconscious things that you don't even know about from childhood and society and from just life. There you go. I'm sure most of you probably knew anyway. And ... um yeah. That's actually all I wanted to say.

"I also have a stye on my eye which really adds to the drama of the whole thing," he finished. Simple as that.

Whether or not people felt like they "knew," Cosnett doing this on his own terms, and live authentically, publicly, is still worth celebrating.

The comments on the post are seemingly universally positive. And that, my dear, is what we love to see!
