Model & TikTok Star Olivia Ponton Comes Out As Bisexual

Olivia Ponton is now an out, proud, bisexual member of the queer community!

In a recent interview with Teen Vogue, the 19-year-old model and social media superstar (who currently has over 6 million TikTok followers and 3 million Instagram followers) revealed that she is indeed bisexual after causing a stir earlier this year with a cheeky TikTok video.

"I want to announce that I'm bisexual, and I'm now proud to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community," Ponton told Teen Vogue.

She also opened up about how she wasn't exposed to many queer people growing up in Naples, Florida, and it wasn't until she moved to Los Angeles that she realized being bisexuality was even a possibility for her. Ponton then revealed that she now has a girlfriend named Kaila and that the two met on TikTok before they officially started seeing each other back in January of this year.

"I met my girlfriend on TikTok and became thoroughly obsessed with her," she said. "She actually curved me for a week before first answering!"

Speaking about her reasons behind sharing part of her identity with the world, Ponton cited Nickelodeon star and Gen Z icon JoJo Siwa, who also publicly came out earlier this year, as a major inspiration.

"I saw that and thought, 'Wow, that's really amazing for young children now because she's such a big role model,'" Ponton said of Siwa's impact on young queer people such as herself. "She's really become almost a role model for me to look up to as well."

"I want to let young girls know that it's okay to not even know your sexuality until you're older," she continued, speaking about how people shouldn't have to come out until they are in the right place in their lives to, no matter what age. "I think it should be more normalized to come out [when you're ready for it]."

It's been a super busy past few days when it comes to bisexual celebrities being able to publicly address their sexuality! Just this week alone, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' Larry Saperstein (who plays Big Red on the show) came out as bi in a viral TikTok, and not too long afterward, rapper and Love & Hip Hop alum DreamDoll also publicly shared her bisexuality in a Pride Month-themed Instagram post! We LOVE to see it!
