Broadway/reality TV star Frankie Grande and his boyfriend, actor Hale Leon, are getting married!
People got the exclusive reveal of the happy couple's announcement, and the pics they have show that love really does win!
Grande, never one to do things in a subdued manner, popped the question with an out-of-this world virtual reality proposal Tuesday night.
"He said YES! WE'RE ENGAGED!" Grande posted on Instagram. "I am so happy my best friend said he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me! Playing games and making me laugh forever! Speaking of games...I proposed IN VIRTUAL REALITY! HE FREAKED OUT!"
Grande is celebrating four years sober on June 16, and he told Leon they were going out for an early celebration of that. The couple and some friends went to immersive VR experience Dreamscape in Los Angeles, where Grande worked with the company to create a custom ending with intergalactic virtual fireworks and a "will you marry me?" message.
"It was such a perfect, beautiful moment," Grande told People. "Hale was completely surprised and we both started crying tears of joy. I have been working on proposing to him in virtual reality for over a year and it was ABSOLUTELY breathtaking for us both."
The couple originally met in 2019 while line dancing in Los Angeles. "I randomly ended up going to this bar Oil Can Harry's in the Valley and I saw Hale, he was dancing on the stage," he told People at the time. "He was performing for everybody. He loves to go to Oil Can Harry's. He knew all the dances, I was blown away."
For Grande, he says it was "love at first dance." The couple celebrated their two-year anniversary this spring, saying "if we can survive quarantine...we can survive anything!"
Now, after surviving that difficult year, the couple deserves some much-needed R&R. (Hopefully they can get some on their honeymoon.)
