Bi Icon Megan Fox Wants to Play a Superhero in a Marvel or DC Movie
It's Megan Fox's world and we're all (gladly) just living in it!
In a recent profile for InStyle magazine, the 35-year-old screen legend and bisexual icon opened up about all sorts of topics ranging from her relationship with the media who hypersexualized her for so many years, the lasting legacy of Diablo Cody and Karyn Kusama's cult classic comedy-horror film Jennifer's Body, being a mom, dating popstar Machine Gun Kelly, and what the future of her long, enduring career as an actor holds.
And much to the delight of our nerdy, queer hearts, the possibility of playing a superhero in a Marvel or DC Comics title!
When asked by InStyle's Alyssa Hardy about the next steps in her career, Megan said she's still trying to figure out what to do, but that she should "probably start manifesting" what that looks like. And for Megan, who is definitely no stranger to the action genre, that means campaigning for a role in a superhero movie.
"I won't lie, I do want to find a Marvel or a DC character that I've always wanted to play, and do one of those," she revealed. "People hate on you as an actor for that because it doesn't get you the big awards. I don't give a fuck. Give me an MTV award. I don't need a fucking BAFTA."
Considering how hetero a lot of mainstream superhero titles can be (from the creative teams to the actors to the characters themselves) and how small and tiny the crumbs LGBTQ+ fans are often given are, it would be so nice to see an out-and-proud member of the LGBTQ+ community continue to help queer up one of the most successful and popular movie genres in the world, and Ms. Fox has the credentials after starring in big-budget, box-office projects Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
Megan was just in the news last week after making headlines for celebrating the end of Pride Month with a poolside selfie showing off a rainbow-colored manicure and proudly reminding everyone that she is bisexual and has been out for years.
"Putting the B in #LGBTQIA for over two decades," the 35-year-old actress wrote in the caption of her nail pic, which at the time of writing has nearly 3 million likes.
This seems to be the start of a renaissance in Megan's career, and the world's newfound appreciation for her after all that she's been through, and just like her, we're manifesting all the good things for her!
