The one-time presidential hopeful and his hubby are on the road to fatherhood!

It looks like Pete Buttigieg can add "daddy" to his already impressive list of titles!

In a surprise announcement on social media, the 39 U.S. secretary of transportation (and former presidential hopeful) revealed that he and hubby Chasten, 32, are on the way to fatherhood and have started the process of having their first child together!

"For some time, Chasten and I have wanted to grow our family," the former South Bend, Indiana mayor wrote, sharing the news that he and Chasten were officially on the way to becoming parents. "We're overjoyed to share that we've become parents! The process isn't done yet and we're thankful for the love, support, and respect for our privacy that has been offered to us. We can't wait to share more soon."

While Buttigieg did stress that he and Chasten (understandably) want to have an abundance of privacy during this happy time in their lives, they were met with a ton of public support from friends, supporters, and followers at the revelation of the baby news!

"As gay dads of FIVE adopted kids, my husband @RobertCooper58 and I want to offer you and Chasten our heartfelt congrats!!" Jon Cooper, the Long Island campaign chair for former President Barack Obama, wrote in a reply tweet to Pete. "We're so happy for you both!!"

"Congratulations, gents!!" TV host and commentator Joy-Ann Reid wrote in another reply. "Blessings to your growing family."

Congrats, Pete & Chasten! We know you two will make the best of daddies!
