There's a new trans teen docuseries coming to Amazon Prime Video.
According to Deadline, Always Jane follows trans teen Jane Noury, who lives in small-town New Jersey, and like any teenager, must balance friends, family, and school as she prepares to graduate and head off to college.
The description continues, touching on the current anti-trans climate that's spread across the nation like a wildfire. "While today's political and social climate may not seem like the easiest time for a transgender teenager to grow up, you haven't met her family, the Nourys," the description reads. "They wear their hearts on their sleeves and find irreverent humor in daily life, while Jane sets her sights on life beyond her family."
There have been a record-number of anti-trans laws being proposed, and passed, in Republican-controlled states over the last few years, with most of them being aimed at trans teens and youth. Many of the anti-trans laws seek to ban trans youth from participating in school sports and other activities, while others are "bathroom bills," seeking to ban trans girls from using women's facilities and vice versa.
Noury is currently pursuing a career in modeling and acting, and recently even appeared in Rihanna's Savage X Fenty Vol. 3 fashion show. Always Jane will follow her as she enrolls in film school and follows her passion.
Noury posted about her experience at the Savage X Fenty show, saying, "honored to have worked with @badgalriri and a brand that celebrates fearlessness, confidence, and inclusivity!!"
Noury has also been featured in Hunter Fashion Magazine and Archive Magazine. Always Jane will undoubtedly boost her profile.
Always Jane is four episodes long and will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, November 12.
