One thing about me is I love JoJo Siwa.
Queer superstar JoJo Siwa has opened up about her gay awakenings -- and did it in the best way possible. One trend on TikTok right now is to tell personal stories using Nicki Minaj's "Super Freaky Girl" beat, starting your story with "one thing about me is..."
Siwa used this meme format to tell the story of how she realized she was gay. The story came in three parts.
"One thing about me is that when I was twelve, Demi Lovato came out with the song 'Cool for the Summer,'" she starts, "I really really liked it and listened to it all the time. I did not know what it meant back then but now that I'm much older I understand and I know what it means!"
Siwa was barely 12 when the song came out, so it makes sense she'd miss out on the sapphic themes. Demi herself commented on Siwa's Instagram repost of the video with three cry-laughing emoji. But Siwa wasn't done there.
"Then a few years later Jenna Dewan went on Lip Sync Battle. She did a really great Magic Mike number," JoJo continues. "I pretty much watched it every day. Little me, she didn't know she was gay!
Oh, 15-year-old JoJo. Watching a video of a woman stripping every day is a pretty clear sign. But sometimes you need one more push to fully realize who you are, and Siwa got that the first time she went out on a date.
"Until, a couple years later, a man was my first date. And he wanted to have sex with me," she says. "And I did not want to, never wanted to, grossed out by the thought of it, immediately knew men are not my thing. Women are my gig. Gotta go." Watch the entire video below.
Lately, Siwa has been spending a lot of time with her new girlfriend, lesbian TikToker Avery Cyrus. The two have been traveling together, gone on several Disney dates, and can't seem to get enough of each other.
Now, all we have to do is wait another ten years for the next generation of queer stars to reveal that JoJo Siwa was their gay awakening.
