The Stars Came Out Celebrate to the 2022 Outfest Legacy Awards
LGBTQ+ Hollywood was out in full force to celebrate Outfest's annual awards ceremony!
Earlier this month, Outfest, Los Angeles's long-running and beloved LGBTQ+ Film Festival, celebrated its annual Legacy Awards -- and queer Hollywood was out in full force!
This year's ceremony continued 2022's ongoing 40th-anniversary celebration of Outfest (which launched in 1982), and one of the biggest names of the night was music icon and actor Janelle Monae, who received the Trailblazer Award, an honor that has gone to some other legends in the past, including Tom Hanks, Billy Porter, Laverne Cox, Elliot Page, Lee Daniels, Michaela Jae Rodriguez, Rita Moreno, Judith Light, Hillary Swank, Tanya Saracho, and Octavia Spencer.
"In honoring Janelle Monae, the Trailblazer Award will recognize Monae's role as an artist who has consistently shown their support for the LGBTQ+ community at large through music and acting," a statement from the festival read.
Besides Monae, other attendees of the night included a whole bunch of other notable LGBTQ+ celebs, including 9-1-1: Lone Star actors and Out100 cover stars Rafael Silva and Ronen Rubinstein, Out100 honoree Brandon Black, TV icon and The Nanny star Fran Drescher, Star Trek: Discovery's Wilson Cruz, and so many more.
