Isaac Mizrahi Says Love Triangle Sparked Madonna/Sandra Bernhard Feud

The tea is piping hot today!

Watch What Happens Live never fails to deliver, and last night we got a reminder of one of the most famous pieces of gossip in lesbian history.

The piece of classic sapphic lore came from out designer Isaac Mizrahi. Mizrahi was asked by a fan to talk about his time as a friend to pop icon Madonna and bisexual comedian Sandra Bernhard and to describe what their relationship was like.

"Madonna, she's amazing, Sandra's amazing," Mizrahi said. "It was a whole weird thing with Ingrid Casares, where Sandra was sort of involved with Ingrid and then she was f***ing Madonna, it was a whole thing."

"It was not pretty," he continued. "That's what happened, I'm sorry, that's what happened. Not the Sex book, not anybody's styling, it was just Ingrid Casares."

"And I think that Sandra and Madonna are back together, thick as thieves," Mizrahi added. "No? I don't know. I haven't heard."

Now, this isn't a new story by any means, the love triangle has been a part of lesbian lore for decades. In the early '90s, Casares, a model, was in a relationship with Bernhard who at the time, was a close friend of Madonna's. When Casares and Madonna met, they had instant chemistry, and soon, they were being spotted around town getting close.

According to the rumors, Madonna and Casares started dating, which led to the singer's relationship with Bernhard ending. In 2012, Casares told New York magazine, "I've always had a theory that you meet people to meet other people. I met Sandra because I was supposed to meet M. It's very obvious."

Casares isn't the only female model Madonna was connected to. In the '90s, she was also close with Jenny Shimizu, who famously dated Angelina Jolie. Shimizu told interviewers that she and Madonna would meet up for sex before Madonna married Guy Ritchie.
